Friday 11th October 2019.
Good afternoon,
As promised, I am reporting back from the meeting I had on Tuesday 9th October, with the UK Government’s DTI (Department of Trade & Industry).
It was highly informative with the emphasis on a no-deal scenario. Please note, any information provided by them is subject to change – and is not my work.
Please use the following link to find out more information about how to prepare yourself and your business:

The meeting focused a great deal on the importing and exporting of all sorts of goods.
This may not affect your business directly – but it could impact any suppliers of goods whose services/products you use.
For instance, wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, and accessories wholesalers.
Here is a link to the actual presentation we had, which talks about how systems, procedures and requirements will change – based on a no deal Brexit:
Get ready for Brexit presentation DTI.
I have picked out specific pages, which as a UK Bridal Retailer/wholesaler, may be of relevance.
These include:
- Sending staff to the EU after Brexit, for instance, to work at trade fairs – or to attend trade fairs. Pages 78 & 79.
- Travelling in the EU after Brexit; passport requirements, driving licences, so called Green Card insurances etc. Pages 97 – 99.
- Employing EU staff after Brexit. Pages 100 – 105.
There are many DTI offices located throughout the UK who can help you. Contact them here to find your local branch:

I do hope this sheds some light on what is to come.
Wishing you all the best.
